I'm looking for Beta Readers!

Posted by deadspread83 - July 9th, 2014

For those that don't know, Beta Readers read a book before it's published and provide feedback to the author on whether or not you enjoyed the story. What you liked about it. Whether you liked it at all. It also gives the author a chance to collect some early reviews for their work, so when the book is published, the Beta can review the book for others to see their impression of it. Think of it as reading a book and and doing an Amazon review for it, but before the book is available. When the book is published, you go on amazon and post your review., making sure to mention that you got a free advanced copy or that you're a beta reader.

That's what I'm hoping to do, and I need your help. You don't have to like the book or kiss my ass about it, but if you only read young adult romance, you probably won't like a gritty suspense/horror novel, which is what my book is. I'll include the back cover blurb and you can decide whether or not it sounds like something you might want to read.

Time is of the essence, so if you don't think you can finish reading and reviewing by the end of July, don't bother with it. Just PM me if you're interested, and I'll send you a PDF of the manuscript, along with a few common beta read questions (which you can ignore, but some find it easier to have a guide).

That's it.  Below is the blurb from the back of the book.1356787_140492547393_ClostersBranchsmall.jpg

White cracking heat.

Ravenous animals that stalk the night.

Talons that render flesh from bone.

The desert is a hard and unforgiving place.

When children get lost out there, they don't come back. The town of Closter's Branch knows that fact better than most.

Abraham Stone has spent the last ten years of his long life as Sheriff of the dusty town of Closter's Branch. It's an easy job. The townsfolk are peaceful. Everything seems normal on the surface of things, but Abe can't shake the feeling that something is not right. He's been having nightmares. Visions. The desert makes perilous living for everyone, but the more empty coffins they bury the more Abraham wonders if his visions are true. Something sinister is stalking the desert.

Aided by his deputy, the Sheriff works to uncover why the town keeps losing their children. The lawmen's search for answers sets a series of events into motion that will shatter families and bring the town of Closter's Branch to its knees.

How dare you bump me down?!!! :-P

Oh right, I need to finish reading the file you sent me...

Well, somebody had to do it :)

No rush. I want to be able to have it available by mid August at the latest, so you've got some time.

I'll give it a shot. PM me please :3

One month to edit? Damn I wish I wasn't so busy! You do anything different (with regard to structure) to the first half dozen pages? I'm hoping my sister will help out with the non-farm related crud, so maybe I can finish Closter's Branch in time.... I still think the concept and your approach is a good one, just needs a bit of spit and polish here and there, to read/flow a bit more consistently.
